At Monterey Fuel Company, your development is extremely important to us. We view development in broad terms – including looking at your personal development as well as your professional development.
An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a tool to assist employees in career and personal development. Its primary purpose is to help employees reach short and long-term personal and career goals, as well as improve current job performance. It should be looked at as a partnership between the employee and the manager/company. It involves preparation and continuous feedback.
Personal Development is development that helps support you as a “24 hour” person. This development includes such things as your wellbeing- physical and mental health, your financial health, relationships, spiritual, intellectual and areas that can help support accomplishing your dreams.
We are requesting that each person identify one Personal Development goal each year.
Professional Development includes development that helps you within the work environment – including your current role as well as development that can broaden your skills for future opportunities. Professional development includes on-the-job training in areas such as safety, quality, customer service, and your involvement in our Worksite Committees where you can share your expertise in helping to improve our company.
We are requesting that each person identify one Professional Development goal each year.
Worksite Committee’s are an opportunity for you to have your voice heard while helping the organization solve problems and make continuous improvements. Choose the area that interests you most, but every team member must join a committee. Committees meet to discuss culture, employee selection, safety, wellness, process improvements, and finance.
This process is designed to support you as an individual, create the necessary intentionality, and help increase the success rate of your developmental pursuits. You will have periodic “Check-In” conversations with your manager to ensure there is mutual understanding and support.
